Just the most amazing weekend--we needed a getaway, and we got one! Our room (with a tree-bower bed) was so romantic; the stars over the lake were beautiful, and it was QUIET.....thank you, Margot!

There are a thousand and one things I could say about the Normandy House but above all I would like to comment on the hospitality. My husband and I have been visiting the New Orleans area regularly for a few years now and have stayed in many places throughout the city and its surroundings. Ever since we found the Normandy House we have stayed nowhere but there in the quiet, rolling hills of Folsom. The house is full of charm, the grounds are breathtaking, teeming with wildlife and tranquility, and the featured local artwork is exquisite (in fact, we've become avid collectors). But most importantly Margot Deal makes the Normandy House what it is. She has opened her home and apartment in the city to us over and over again and has always been more than accommodating. Never have my husband and I experienced such grace. If only every bed and breakfast and its innkeeper could be as inviting.

I had a wonderfully relaxing retreat at Normandy House! Margot gave me such a warm reception. From our phone conversation, she picked up on my love of wine. So, as I was arriving in the drive way to the home, Margot greeted me, holding a bottle of wine in her arms! I felt relaxed and at home from that moment on. She is a wonderful hostess, but that was just the beginning. I went to Normandy House to retreat from my small children, busy life and no time for myself. I took long bathes and enjoyed the peaceful views of the pond and landscape. I loved the artistically created tree over the large "most comfortable bed you will ever sleep in!" The bedroom had so many unique features, as did the entire home. The bedroom had a large massive brick fireplace, sofa, sitting area, antique furniture and a spectacular view of the water. The home had an art gallery, 2 more beautiful rooms downstairs, very large kitchen, and a beautiful dining room w/ a massive fireplace. The home has so much character. Knowing I was looking for an outting, Margot took me to a Polo game very close to home. Then, on the second night of my stay, my husband meet me at Normandy House. We went to a concert at Ponchartrain Winery & Vineyards. You will never believe this, but Margot drove her car ahead of ours to show us the way to the Winery. She just always went out of her way to be hospitable. By the way, what a wonderful night out in the country: music, wine, food, dancing, great people all in the middle of nowhere!! Ck the dates at their website or ask Margot. The next morning, we awoke to homemade blueberry pancakes. I was so sad to leave. By the way, I forgot, Margot took me on a tractor ride all over her 50-60 something acre estate. It was really like getting away from it all! Oh, and I completely forgot about the wonderful New Orleans style BBQ shrimp dinner w/ a wonderful salad (of course she knew that was my favorite) the first night of my stay. She came to the house to cook me dinner! I was completely blown away. I drank several glasses of wine that night. It was one of the most relaxing dinners I've had in 5 long years. I could go on and on, but the kids are crying in the backround. I need another retreat to Normandy House.
