12 oz. day-old French bread, cut into 3/4 inch cubes
2/3 cup raisins
6 oz. cream cheese, cut into 1/4 inch cubes
6 eggs
3 cups milk
1 cup maple syrup
2 teaspoons vanilla
Additional syrup, optional
Spray 9x13 inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray. Place bread cubes in even layer in dish. Sprinkle raisins & cream cheese over bread.
Beat eggs in medium bowl. Add milk, 1 cup syrup and vanilla. Mix well. Pour egg mixture evenly over bread mixture.
Cover; refrigerate at least 4 hrs. or overnight.
Bake uncovered at 350 degrees 45 minutes, or until top is golden brown.
Cut into squares and serve with additional syrup. Serves 12.
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 cup quick rolled oats
1 10-oz. jar of jam (apricot, peach, or your favorite)
Mix butter and brown sugar well. Add all other ingredients except jam.
Grease and flour 9x13 inch baking pan. Spread half of mixture in pan. Top with jam, then sprinkle remaining mixture on top and pat lightly.
Bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
When cool, cut into squares. Makes 24-28.
