SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, that is is intended to validate if an e-mail message was sent by an official server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain name will prevent the forging of email addresses created with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this attribute for a domain creates a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP addresses of the servers that are allowed to send email messages from mailboxes under the domain. The moment this record propagates globally, it exists on all DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Every time some e-mail message is sent, the first DNS server it uses checks if it originates from an authorized server. If it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, yet when it does not originate from a server listed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it's discarded. In this way nobody can mask an e-mail address and make it look as if you are distributing spam. This method is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for any domain name hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud platform with only a couple of clicks. The option can be found in the Emails section of our amazing Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to activate it is to pick one of your domains from the drop-down list and enter the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the mail servers that will be certified to send emails from your email addresses. As an added option you can even restrict the emails to be sent from your domain only if it includes our MX records, i.e. if our servers handle the emails for it, not some third-party supplier. This solution will provide you with the highest level of security, but it's not applicable if only your site is on our servers while your email addresses for the domain name are taken care of in a different place. Either way, our SPF protection service will keep your email addresses protected from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection feature comes with all semi-dedicated hosting, so when you host your domain names in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you will be able to activate the service effortlessly for all your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a quite easy to use interface, so you won't have to be proficient in the use of computers to protected your email addresses. You will simply have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you would like to be authorized to send out e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be activated for the domain name that you have chosen. As a further option, we'll also allow you to control the outgoing emails and protect your mailboxes even better by allowing messages to be sent only when the domain name involved features our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain name should be taken care of by us and not by another supplier. Thus you'll have even superior control and there will not be any chances for any person to fake your e-mail addresses for malicious purposes.
