New On-Line Travel Guide Gives B&B Customers a Look Outside the Inns
Friday September 5, 7:45 am ET 2003

DENTON, Texas, Sept. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Many bed and breakfast travelers are happy to stay inside and enjoy their cozy quarters and hospitable hosts. But for those who want to get out and explore, International Bed and Breakfast Pages ( ibbp.com ) now helps them know "what's to do" before they book, with detailed travel information for every destination.

In addition to listings for hundreds of inns and small hotels in 40 countries, the newly expanded Website describes popular sights, activities and points of interest by city or region. Using either the search icon or the geographical index, B&B customers can click from travel guide entries directly to the inns serving those locales.

"We've expanded our content to include real, useful information which helps people quickly decide whether a destination offers what they want," says IBBP marketing director Leeza Morris. "It's part of being a Website that puts the traveler's need to access information ahead of the innkeeper's desire to promote his property."

This approach is evident in the bed and breakfast listings as well. Each property follows a consistent format to show photos, features, services and activities. Indexed tabs allow easy back-and-forth comparisons of different inns serving the same town.

After travelers stay at an inn found on IBBP.com, they're invited to post a review. Traveler reviews now number more than 400, giving prospective visitors an unbiased look at many of the properties available, as well as a quality control measure. If an inn receives more than two negative reviews, it's removed from the guide.

Other popular Website features include the Specials Newsletter, where innkeepers post seasonal price cuts, themed promotions and other bargains. A Coupon Club offers regular discounts at participating properties. Plus recipe listings allow travelers to get a taste of some inns from home. "Many people choose a B&B for the breakfast. What better way to check out a place than to see what the specialty is," says Morris.
