ACCOMMODATION DETAILS
INN SETTING: Dormouse House is a true family home that is filled with museum quality art and antiques. We are in a beautiful, calm setting overlooking the Seine Valley. It is semi-rural with millions of song birds, forests and agriculture all around, yet is in a charming town (5000 people) near easily accessible to Paris. (You can google Villennes sur Seine and mapquest Dormouse House).
LANGUAGES: English, French, Spanish, and some Italian.
AMENITIES: Our home is newly-built entirely of Norwegian spruce with a wrap-around veranda and wooden deck with fountain. DH is down a private drive off-street (secure parking available) set in a gorgeous large garden with fruit trees, lawn, pond, and vegetable garden. We have just finished a large scale redecorationand redoing the g project and have completely redone the garden (Spring 2008) - lovely! We have a beautiful 'winter garden' room with heated jacuzzi, the living room with wood and stone fireplace, the 'petit salon' with television and dvd (if yo u aren't too busy elsewhere!), table tennis, and a large library in English. I welcome well-behaved pets (ask for details, please; we have a cat and 2 small dogs.)
GUESTROOMS: 3 charming guestrooms-2 doubles and a single that adjoins one of the doubles. The 'Blue' Room' has a view over the seine valley . The huge 'Rose Suite 'has a sofa and desk .Adjoining the Rose Suite is the 'View Room',with lovely cathedral windows.
MEAL TYPE: a 'glorified' French/US style breakfast is offered, inc. pastries, breads, fruits, fruit juices, yogurts, coffee, tea, herbal tea, etc.. Cooked breakfasts - made with my own hens' eggs where possible! - are available at a supplement.
MEAL TIME: breakfast at any reasonable hour. Dinner is available (3 courses, 25 euros, 13 for kids) , often with homegrown produce.
MEAL LOCATION: breakfast may be taken in the sunny dining room with french doors looking out on the back garden, or on the terrace in nice weather.
OTHER: the house is filled with antiques and fine art from all over the world, but is not "fussy"; rather, it is designed for comfort with views of the garden.
REASONS TO VISIT: You'll have the best of all worlds with Paris and other places of intgerest at your doorstep yet the charm of the village, forests, and garden all here.
