Casa Portagioia is a small estate near Cortona with 5 independent guest bedrooms – all with luxury bathrooms and 2 suite apartments accommodating 2-4 guests in each. Casa Portagioia offers excellent privacy, a heated swimming pool and truly gorgeous scenery.
The 3 year restoration of this beautiful farmhouse has been undertaken with great care with the closest attention to detail ensuring the preservation of the natural beauty of the building, whilst allowing for the comforts and high standards demanded by today’s traveller.
Our spacious rooms are both elegant and well appointed and are individually furnished. Each of our guest rooms has views of the gardens and the surrounding countryside. Our guest’s comfort and enjoyment are paramount and the little extras in each of our rooms make our guests completely welcome. Thre is a train station at Castiglion Fiorentino with trains to Florence and Rome. The closest airports are Florence, Pisa, Rome and Bologna.
We serve a light lunch around to pool together with other refreshments and Dinner is available twice a week. Dinner is a five course set menu (designed around guest’s preferences) and is a leisurely affair that can go on for a couple of hours. During dinner our guests can get to know one another and recant their outings and planned trips around Tuscany and Italy.

The countryside around Pieve Di Chio and Castiglion Fiorentino is some of the most beautiful you’ll find in Tuscany. Cypress trees together with olive groves, vines, oaks and evergreens are in abundance. Spring sees a mass of crimson poppies and during June, July and August, the famous Tuscan sunflowers strain themselves to capture the last ray of Tuscan sun!
