Holland, or The Netherlands, is a lively mix of tradition, in the form of windmills and tulips, and fast-paced modern European life. Known as being largely flat, Holland is an ideal destination for those who enjoy pursuits like cycling or walking. But it is a cultured land as well, as the seemingly endless list of great Dutch artists testifies. The city of Amsterdam is famous for its canals, cultural attractions, like the Rijksmuseum, Anne Frank's House and the Van Gogh Museum and much more, as well as its nightlife and 'anything goes' attitude. Other great Holland 'must-sees' include the spectacular Dom in the town of Utrecht, the cheese markets (the best are in Waagplein, Alkmaar and Gouda), the Royal Delft pottery in Delft, the city of Rotterdam, Maastricht, Holland's oldest fortified city and the Hague, seat of the Dutch government and royalty and the UN's fourth most important city or witness the famous tulips from March to mid May in Haarlem, only 20 km West of Amsterdam. The choices are endless and so are the bed and breakfast choices on IBBP where you will surely find the perfect one for you. |
