Built c. 1750, The Melville House is on the National Register of Historic Places and is located in the Heart of Newport's Historic Hill District on a quiet street of interesting old colonial buildings - just one block up from Thames Street with its Brick Market, wharves, restaurants and shops. The fabled Newport Mansions, the Ocean Drive, Cliff Walk and beaches are all nearby. The rooms are furnished in a Colonial style with a fireplace in the David Melville suite. All bedrooms have central air in the summer A full homemade breakfast is served in the great room room and a afternoon tea features homemade cookies and complimentary sherry. Also available for our guests is complimentary soft drinks, bottled water and juice as well as crackers and granola bars.
In the summer relax in our beautiful garden with a good book.
