Fredericksburg is located in the Texas Hill Country, which is about an hour and a half North of San Antonio or 2 hours West of Austin.The town was settled by German immigrants; many of the older buildings retain traditional German styles and German customs are regularly observed: Easter Fires, Schuetzenfests (marksmanship tournaments), Oktoberfest, Weinhnachten, and Kinderfest. Visitors to Fredericksburg come for the historic setting, European atmosphere, and the scenic surroundings.
