The Hartness House is an elegant national registered historic inn built in 1904 as a mansion and country estate for former Governor and wealthy industrialist, James Hartness. The architecture is Newport style and the inn is decorated in beautiful Victorian antiques with mahogany panelled walls, sweeping staircase, and grand fireplaces.
We have 43 guest rooms all with private bath, telephone & voicemail, color cable tv, wireless B Internet and air conditioning.
Our fine dining gourmet restaurant and fieldstone tavern cater to discriminating tastes. We offer romantic dinners with candle-lit linen table clothes. All our chefs are award-winning and feature their best creations each evening.
We have on-site nature trails on 32 acres with a mountain stream, an in-ground swimming pool and offer golf, romantic and canoe packages with dining and overnight accommodations.
Museum on-site with exhibits on astronomy, telescopes, and telescope making. |
