preheat oven to 350f.
butter a 9 inch square pan (or double recipe for a 9 x 13 inch pan).
beat 2 eggs with 1 cup sugar, preferably brown.
melt 1/2 cup butter on low in the microwave with 3 oz. unsweetened chocolate.
mix into the egg/sugar mixture.
add 1 tablespoon vanilla.
add a pinch of salt.
mix in 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.
add 1 cup chopped toasted walnut pieces (they can be toasted in the microwave.)
optional, but good, add 1 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate pieces - dark, milk, white, or a mix.
bake about 25 minutes until just set - do not overbake! let cool (if you can!) and cut into squares.
